Pinche Ponche Sour Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounces LALO Tequila Blanco
  • ¾ ounce mulled wine syrup (ponche syrup)
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ¾ ounce egg white
  • Garnish with apple slices

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker without ice and dry shake to emulsify the egg white.
  2. Add ice and hard shake for a good chill and texture.
  3. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with apple slices on a cocktail pick. Makes one serving.

Mexican Mulled Wine Syrup (Ponche) Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup piloncillo (or brown sugar)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup red wine
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • ½ apple, diced

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan, boil the water and red wine with piloncillo, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and hibiscus.
  2. Add the apple, guava, and tejocotes, and simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Let it sit to infuse for 2 hours.
  4. Strain the syrup and store in a clean jar. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
