Hispanic Heritage Month Dinner 2023 with Rick Lopez and Jaime Gonzalez
We were thrilled to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at Malverde with a special chef collaboration featuring Rick Lopez, Executive Chef of La Condesa, and Jaime Gonzalez, Executive Chef of Carriqui. This dynamic culinary duo brought their passion, creativity, and deep understanding of Mexican flavors to the evening, crafting a menu that highlighted the richness and diversity of Latin cuisine.
Our guest list was thoughtfully curated to include local Hispanic community members, artists, and creatives, each playing an important role in shaping and enriching Austin’s vibrant Latin community. The evening was a celebration of heritage, talent, and culture, creating meaningful connections between guests and the chefs behind the incredible dishes.
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed inventive interpretations of Mexican classics, with each bite reflecting the chefs’ dedication to craft and flavor. The atmosphere was lively and joyous, amplified by the infectious rhythms of cumbia music that encouraged dancing, laughter, and conversation. The combination of music, culinary artistry, and community spirit made the event a truly memorable celebration of Hispanic heritage.
This celebration was not just about honoring tradition, but also about highlighting the creativity and innovation present in Austin’s Latin community today. It was a chance to come together, share stories, and raise a glass to the people and culture that inspire us every day.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this beautiful evening, making it a meaningful start to Hispanic Heritage Month. From the exceptional dishes crafted by Rick Lopez and Jaime Gonzalez to the energy and enthusiasm of our guests, the night was a perfect reflection of the vibrancy, warmth, and richness of Latin culture. Here’s to celebrating heritage, community, and the flavors that bring us all together.
